AntiSpam
Blacklisting of Websites & Domains
Our central servers maintain an up to date
list of the largest and most aggressive
known spammers. This list is maintained
by both us and other anti-spam groups. Our
scanning methods include a scoring system
such that emails are scored based on a number
of criteria. If the score is above a threshold,
then that email is flagged as spam.
|
Checksum
Technology
Central Servers monitors
email traffic through the Internet and uses
checksum technology to keep track of the
number of times a particular message has
appeared on the Internet. If a message has
appeared over a certain number of times,
it is categorized as known spam. Checksums
of known spam messages are utilized by the
our Gateway to block spam messages. "Seen On Net" filtering gives additional advantage.
Real-time UDS requests. The Urgent Detection System is updated with information on spam messages literally seconds after they first appear on the Internet. Messages that could not be assigned a definitive status (e.g., spam, no-spam) can be scanned using UDS

E-mail spoofing
E-mail spoofing is e-mail activity in which the sender address and other parts of the e-mail header are altered to appear as though the e-mail originated from a different source. Because core SMTP doesn't provide any authentication, it is easy to impersonate and forge emails. It is usually fraudulent but can be legitimate. It is commonly used in spam and phishing e-mails to hide the origin of the e-mail message. By changing certain properties of the e-mail, such as the From, Return-Path and Reply-To fields (which can be found in the message header), ill-intentioned users can make the e-mail appear to be from someone other than the actual sender. The result is that, although the e-mail appears to come from the address indicated in the From field (found in the e-mail headers), it actually comes from another source. |
Email Phishing
In the field of computer security, phishing is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as user names, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.
CleanMailGateway identifies fraudulent emails or phishing emails in real time, that try to trick users into giving away confidential personal or business information such as bank logon details, credit card details, etc. |
Spyware
Spyware is a type of malware that can be installed on computers and collects little bits of information at a time about users without their knowledge. The presence of spyware is typically hidden from the user, and can be difficult to detect. CleanMailGateway identifies emails spyware in real time. |
Virus
Today most of Viruses are spreaded via Email.A computer virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer. The term "virus" is also commonly but erroneously used to refer to other types of malware, including but not limited to adware and spyware programs that do not have the reproductive ability. A true virus can spread from one computer to another in some form of executable code.
CleanMailGateway Servers are configured to use Multiple Antivirus Packages & hence no virus escapes & reaches you. |
Email Bombing
An e-mail bomb is a form of net abuse consisting of sending huge volumes of e-mail to an address in an attempt to overflow the mailbox or overwhelm the server where the email address is hosted in a denial-of-service attack. CleanMailGateway protects against Denial of Service attacks and Mail Bombing that can
cripple you email server. |
Image / PDF Spams
Image spam is a kind of E-mail spam where the message text of the spam is presented as a picture in an image file.
We have adopted new techniques such as heuristics rules to analyze the characteristics of image-based spam, and by adding new technology layers, such as optical character recognition technologies. So it allows us to detect upto 99.9% of Image spams.
Using a PDF attachment in a spam message to fool the anti-spam detection methods. Spam originated with ordinary text, which can be easily scanned. CleanMailGateway inteligently reads pdf's content and it detects PDF spam.

SPF and SURBL technologies
The filtration process also involves verifying senders using the Sender Policy Framework. Detection of spammer IP addresses using DNSBL is supplemented by SURBL technology (Spam URI Real-time Block List), which can identify spam URLs in the message body. |
Message
Authenticity Checking
Several
algorithms are utilized to verify the authenticity
of a message. Some of these are simple checks
to verify that the “from address”
is authentic. Some are more complex relating
to SMTP protocol.
|
Signature analysis
Lexical signature databases are updated around the clock. Using spam signatures, the program can even recognize modified versions of spam messages that have been altered to evade spam filters. |
Analysis of formal attributes
The program recognizes spam by such typical characteristics as distorted sender addresses or the absence of
the sender’s IP address in DNS, an excessive number of intended recipients or hidden addresses. The size and format of messages are also taken into consideration. |
Blacklists
and Whitelists
Domains, IP’s,
and email addresses can be blocked or whitelisted
(allowed through). These lists may be maintained
on a per user basis or on a corporate basis.

Rate
